Exploring the board
- The board is a grid. Explore it by touch, or swipe through it row by row from the top.
- Each cell has a short label: the jewel, plus any special jewel or blocker on it.
- To swap, select a jewel, then select the neighbouring jewel you want to swap it with.
- After a swap, VoiceOver says what matched, or “no match, no move used”.
- Combo and chain messages are spoken outside the grid, so your place on the board is kept.
Knowing where you stand
- Swipe order is objectives, then the board, then your tools.
- Moves left, objectives and your last move are always available.
- “Current hint” says none until you use a hint, then names the pair to swap.
- At the end of a level, focus stays on the results, which read your stars, score and coins.
Settings that help
- Announce position first (Settings): hear the row and column before the jewel.
- Colour-blind assist (Settings): a colour-safe jewel palette. Jewels also have distinct shapes.
- Reduce Motion: GemGame follows your iPhone setting.
Shaped by blind players
Blind players tested GemGame through TestFlight, and their requests changed how the board, hints and results are spoken. If anything is slow, confusing or unlabelled, please email georgewall1991@icloud.com. Accessibility fixes come first.
